This is an excuse for the few little times Spider-Man somehow weaseled a good showing against Iron Man during this era. When Iron Man had Extremis, Marvel just had many different characters beat up Tony for being a "jerk". Including ones that are far weaker than him. For all intents and purposes, Extremis is meant to stomp Spider-Man -Marvel Spotlight: Civil War Aftermath
